CTP transport · NSW

CTP transport after a motor accident. Recovery, without the drive.

RideDirect carries people injured in a motor accident to the appointments that get them better — treatment, rehabilitation and medico-legal reviews — across Western Sydney and greater Sydney. Door to door, with a carer if they need one.

Trips run under the NSW Motor Accident Injuries scheme and bill direct to the CTP insurer against the claim — no card at the door, no reimbursement paperwork. Sydney-wide, dispatched 24/7.

What CTP transport is

A road injury. Not a workplace claim.

CTP — Compulsory Third Party, the green-slip cover on every registered vehicle — is what responds when someone is hurt in a motor accident. A car, motorcycle, bus or pedestrian crash opens a CTP claim, and under the NSW Motor Accident Injuries scheme the injured person can have reasonable and necessary travel to their treatment funded rather than carrying it themselves while they recover.

That is a different scheme to workers compensation. A workplace injury is a different insurer, a different claim number and a different set of rules; a motor-accident injury runs through the CTP insurer on the green slip. The trip for the passenger looks much the same — door to door, to an appointment — but who the trip is billed to is not. Injured at work instead? See workers comp transport.

In practice the booking comes from one of a few places: CTP claims managers and insurers arranging approved travel, rehabilitation providers and treating teams coordinating a course of care, or the injured person and their family booking a trip against a claim that is already open.

How billing works

Billed to the insurer. Against the claim.

The bill goes to the CTP insurer, not the passenger. When a trip is booked we capture the insurer and the claim or reference number, and that reference rides straight onto the trip record and the invoice — so the person approving payment can match the charge to the claim file without a phone call, and the claims manager can reconcile without a treasure hunt.

NSW CTP is regulated by SIRA under the Motor Accident Injuries scheme. What travel is funded, and to what extent, is set by the claim and the treating plan — we don’t decide that. What we do is keep every trip documented against the claim so the approved travel actually happens, and the invoice stays clean if it is ever reviewed.

For the injured person that means no card at the door and no reimbursement paperwork to lodge while they are recovering. They travel; the insurer is billed.

01

Booked against the claim

A CTP claims manager, rehab provider or the injured person books the trip. We capture the CTP insurer, the claim or reference number, the appointment and any access needs.

02

Briefed to the driver

The run is scheduled with buffer and handed over — wheelchair, carer, appointment location and how much time to allow all on the run sheet before the driver sets off.

03

Billed to the insurer

The injured person travels and pays nothing. The invoice — stamped with the claim number — goes to the CTP insurer, ready to match against the claim file.

Reliability & access

Treatment doesn’t wait. Neither do we.

A late arrival at an independent medical examination can cost a slot that took weeks to book, and a missed physio session can set a recovery back. Transport for a motor-accident claim is part of the treatment plan, not a nice-to-have — so here is what comes as standard on every trip.

  • Door-to-door assistance — collected at the door, walked to the vehicle, and helped to the entrance at the appointment. Not a kerbside drop, which matters when someone is stiff, sore or on crutches after a crash.
  • Booked-ahead pickups with buffer built in, so a physio block, a specialist review or an independent medical examination is never missed because the car ran late.
  • Standing trips for a course of treatment — set a weekly rehab or hydrotherapy run once and it repeats, rather than re-booking every session.
  • Wheelchair-accessible vehicles on request, with mobility aids secured by trained drivers — not improvised with a seatbelt.
  • A carer, support worker or family member travels with the injured person at no extra cost.
  • The claim or reference number captured at booking and carried onto the trip record and the invoice.
  • Trip records — pickup, drop-off, distance and any waiting time — exportable for the claim file on request.
  • Online booking and dispatch 24/7. Phone a Sydney coordinator Mon–Fri 8am–5pm.

Western Sydney coverage

Weighted to the west.

A lot of CTP recovery travel starts in Western Sydney — long runs to the Westmead health precinct, to rehab providers and to medico-legal appointments that can sit on the far side of the city. We know those routes and carry them daily, from the Cumberland corridor out to the Nepean.

Coverage runs across greater Sydney too, so a claimant living in the west but reviewed by a specialist in the CBD or on the North Shore travels the same way — door to door, on time, billed to the insurer.
