Western Sydney
Westmead medical transport — Sydney
RideDirect runs medical, NDIS and wheelchair-accessible transport into and out of the Westmead health precinct — Western Sydney’s largest concentration of hospitals, clinics and research institutes. If a booking touches Westmead Hospital or The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, we already know the entrances, the drop-off points and where the wait actually is.
Door-to-door, not kerbside. A carer travels free, mobility aids are secured by trained drivers, and recurring treatment runs are booked once and repeated.
What we cover in the Westmead precinct
The Westmead precinct is not one building. Westmead Hospital, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, the community health services and the surrounding research institutes sit across a single sprawling campus — and getting the right door matters when a passenger is unwell or using a wheelchair. We collect from the ward or the discharge lounge, call ahead once the bed is confirmed, and walk passengers to the entrance at the other end rather than leaving them at a distant kerb.
Most of our Westmead work is medical: specialist and outpatient appointments, hospital discharges, dialysis and rehabilitation runs, and NDIS participant trips to therapy. Standing treatment — dialysis three mornings a week, a fixed rehab block, a paediatric appointment series at the children’s hospital — is booked once and repeated as a series, so families and coordinators are not re-booking the same trip every week.
We also cover the wider Western Sydney catchment that feeds the precinct — Parramatta, Blacktown, Merrylands and the suburbs along the Cumberland corridor — so a participant who lives locally but is treated at Westmead rides with the same operator both ways, on the same account.
Services in Westmead
Medical & NDIS transport is the core of what we do here — discharges, dialysis, rehab and specialist appointments across the campus. For families and patients travelling further, we also run airport transfers to and from Sydney Airport, plus corporate travel for the precinct’s research institutes and event and group transport for conferences and staff functions. See the full list of services.
Who we help here
At a precinct this size, most trips are arranged by someone other than the passenger. We work directly with NDIS plan managers — plan number and support category captured at booking, billing aligned to the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements — and with hospital and insurer case managers coordinating discharges and workers-comp or CTP travel, with insurer-direct billing where it applies. Families and self-managed participants booking their own trips can do so as a private passenger.
